ABOUT ABRAM KORSUNSKY

Welcome to Abram Korsunsky’s artist page, where you’ll find an inside look at his background, performances, and ongoing work as a pianist.

Abram Korsunsky is a rising pianist, recognized for his compelling performances as both a soloist and chamber musician across the United States. Winner of the 2014 Queens College Concerto Competition, he has appeared with the Queens College Symphony Orchestra and the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra performing Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto. His recent engagements include solo and chamber recitals at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts (LeFrak Concert Hall), Flushing Town Hall, and other notable venues.

 

A passionate advocate for contemporary music, Abram has performed in concerts sponsored by the New York Composers Circle and the Long Island Composers Alliance, presenting works by distinguished composers such as Hubert Howe and Edward Smaldone. In 2013, he appeared in a rare performance of Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians with the Queens Nota Bene Ensemble. His international performances include a 2015 concert series in Norway, highlighted by a recital at the historic home and museum of Edvard Grieg in Bergen.

 

Abram has participated twice as a scholarship student at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival at Mannes College (2010, 2015), studying in masterclasses with renowned pianists including Jerome Rose, Alexander Kobrin, Massimiliano Ferrati, and Mykola Suk.

 

A native New Yorker, Abram earned both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, where he received numerous awards, including the LeFrak Family Award, the Martha Feldman Award, the Beatrice Schachter-Myers Award, and the Chamber Music Live Award.

 

In addition to his active performance career, Abram maintains a private teaching studio and serves as Music Director at Our Lady of Victory Church in New York. He previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Queens College. He continues to honor and build upon the musical legacy of his longtime mentor, the late Dr. Nina Lelchuk.
